A one health opinion editorial RE: ideal protocol for future international one health congress meetings, all inclusive modus operandi

‘…Whereas previous Congresses have been very good by all accounts, they have not adequately been all inclusive with respect to addressing a broad spectrum, co-equal recognition and exposure to both One Health essential priorities, i.e. global public health and global clinical health considerations, among a few others. Frankly, this has been known to occur due to concerns about securing adequate funding for public health research projects vis-à-vis clinical health missions, etc. In addition, there have been justifiable complaints regarding the meetings being “too veterinarian oriented without enough physician and other health science professional representations.” Hopefully, this next Congress will demonstrate a more ecumenical approach while addressing the issue of attracting a broader spectrum of health science oriented attendees. Human, animal and environmental health (eco-health) are in dire need of such a far reaching protocol endeavor. Spotlighted International Congresses need to become free from sectarian predominance, or even the hint of tribalism. They need to take the high road: begin “appealing to their better angels” in the true spirit of “One World-One Medicine-One Health.” An accurate and complete mosaic image of one health requires that all pieces be present and in place.’

ONE HEALTH CENTER OF EXCELLENCE - University of Florida (USA) |
|
| Tuesday, January 08, 2019. |
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA

The One Health Center of Excellence at the University of Florida (USA) https://onehealth.ifas.ufl.edu/ is a multidisciplinary think tank that promotes and facilitates the implementation of the One Health vision. It focuses on understanding the interconnections between the health of humans, of animals, of plants and of the environment. The final objective of implementing the One Health vision is the promotion of the advancement of the health of the system rather than that of a single compartment. Innovative studies on how to co-advance health of humans, animals, plants and the environment can now be developed by exploiting big data with an interdisciplinary approach.
The Center provides fellowships, internships and tailored training programs on tools, methodologies, and ideas to promote the vision of One health – i.e. treating health as a circular asset -rather than as a condition which is relevant only to its own segment.

In addition to other profiling actions, HOH Helsinki One Health will host several tenure track professorships with their established research environments in years 2018-2022. We invite applications for the position of an
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR IN MEDICATION SAFETY AND EFFECTIVENESS IN HUMAN AND VETERINARY MEDICINE
Pharmacotherapies have dramatically evolved, and they form one of the most common interventions both in human and veterinary health care. The increasing complexity of therapeutic interventions is a significant challenge for medication safety and effectiveness worldwide in all care settings. The position is a joint position between the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The research, expertise and teaching field of the professorship is Medication Safety and Effectiveness in Human and Veterinary Medicine. Expertise in systems-based risk management and its application to pharmacotherapies are needed. Special emphasis will be paid on methodologies in medication safety and effectiveness research, including those in pharmacotherapy related risk management interventions, health technology, and the use of register data for various purposes relevant to the area of the position. The teaching will focus on advanced research methodologies at master and doctoral level in medication safety and effectiveness in a multidisciplinary environment within HOH Helsinki One Health network organization. ...”
